Your Hair In The Summertime

Keeping your hair healthy and well-nourished is something you have to do all year round. But summertime is the season when your hair needs even more care. Some women (and men) actually like summer because strong sunshine can indeed make your hair look smooth and it might even become brighter.

But exposing your hair and scalp to sunshine can also leave negative consequences on their quality. Especially in combination with salty sea water, water in the swimming pools and the wind.

The bad effects are usually not noticed until fall, though. Most often only then our hair starts showing that it is "suffering" - it's dry, gets tangled easily, the strands easily brake and you get split ends, more hair falls off...

Some of these things can be prevented with natural and intensive hair care:

Mild shampoo

A mild type of shampoo with jojoba oil, wild rose oil or apricot stone oil is recommended. It will keep your hair shiny, soft and elastic.

This shampoo type is in accordance with more frequent hair washing during summer. Dissolve a few drops of this shampoo in the water and gently massage your scalp to increase circulation. Rinse well.

Conditioner

The severe summer conditions are also affecting the hair's cuticle and it's having a hard time keeping the moisture inside your hair. That's why, especially during summer, it's important to use a conditioner which will help your hair retain it's natural moisture and stay healthy.

Deep conditioning

The best deep conditioners are the ones containing vegetable oils extracted from rice, sesame, jojoba, avocado and neem seeds.

Before you wash your hair, massage your scalp with few drops of the chosen oil. Then brush it and spread it all over your hair and wrap up in a towel. For oily hair, leave for 20 to 30 minutes. If your hair is dry, you can leave it for an hour or even over the night for best results.

Apply your shampoo twice, rinse and use a conditioner afterward. Try doing these massages at least once a week.

EXTRA TIP: It seems that the only good thing about summer and hair care is the fact that you don't have to use a blow-dryer all the time. Seize this opportunity and let the hot summer air blow-dry your hair. It will be thankful for letting it rest from this hazardous treatment.
